.::History::.
(Written in Melia's point of view)
The earliest memory from my childhood I can recall was the birth of my younger sister, Lilly. It was such a beautiful day and the bird were singing their melodious songs. I sang along with the little songbirds until my father told me I could finally see my little sister.
"Melia, come see your new sister!" My dad encouraged.
"Okay daddy." I happily replied. I remember peeking into the burrow and seeing her for the first time and how tiny her pastel brown body was. I had never seen a newborn kid before, and I swear, they're the cutest thing I've ever seen. I remember the proud looks on my parents' face and I was so excited for a new sibling, especially since I had gotten a sister.
"Momma, what's her name?" I asked, curious about the little kid.
"Lilly, a beautiful name, no?" My mother cooed affectionately.
"I like it momma. Can I play with her?" I asked as I pranced around outside of the burrow.
"No Melia, Lilly is too young. She can't even walk yet!"
"Oh, okay." I said, kind of disappointed. I had wanted a new playmate more than anything.

During her first year of life, Lilly had already become my best friend. We would play together and sing and laugh almost every day. She loved to sing just like me and I taught her all the songs I knew. Lilly loved it when I taught her songs and we would spend hours just singing along with the birds. My parents would watch us in the enclosed, flower spotted meadow in which we would play. It was just the four of us, I don't know why my parents didn't live with a herd. Maybe there isn't enough of our kind around for a whole herd, I dunno. Every night I would sing a song my mother sang when I was scared to Lilly in a soft voice to get her to fall asleep.

"Can you hear the wind rush past?
The thunder booming in the sky?
Can you see the lightning crack?
The rain pounding against the earth?

There is no need to fear little one
Because I will defend you to the death
I won't let them hurt you

Do you hear the eerie sounds at night?
Can you hear the owls call?
And do you see the creeping shadows move?
Or the sneaky wolves at night?

There is no need to fear my love
Because I will defend you to the death
I won't let them hurt you

I won't leave your side
There is no need to fear
What cannot hurt you
I won't let them hurt you."

One hazy summer's night, I woke up with a jump. It sounded like there was a shrill screaming coming from the distance. My hazel eyes shone with fear as I saw giant shadows with glowing red eyes swiftly dancing around me. I could hear their mischievous laughter and I could see the the tiniest trace of fast beating wings. I backed up into a near by oak, but a shadow jumped towards me out of the tree. I loudly yelped out of fear and rand towards an ash farther away from the shadows. But again they kept popping out moving towards me. I felt small next to those giant, tall figures with eerie red eyes. I tried to sing the song in my head, but it didn't make me feel any less scared. The shadows had an ethereal vibe to them, but I couldn't put my finger on it. Suddenly, they were all around me and I was trapped. The huge things were all around me, moving closer and closer towards me. One of them grabbed my small body and suddenly everything went blurry. I stumbled around and staggered towards the edge of the meadow, but I passed out before I could get there.

I slowly blinked my eyes open at the crack of dawn, the last night had still been very fuzzy. Was it all a nightmare? Or had that actually happened? Wait.......Where's Lilly!? I popped up from the dew covered, grassy ground as I realized my little sister was no where to be seen. I started to frantically search every where in the meadow in which we slept, but I couldn't find the little kid anywhere. A fresh breeze started to blow past and something bright red caught my eye as it blew in the wind. There was a red flower in the place Lilly had slept the night before. I remembered the spot because we fell asleep dead center in the meadow. Where did she go? And what is this flower doing here? I didn't see it the night before....... I touched the delicate flower with my single black horn and I felt a chill crawl up my back. The flower had some sort of unsettling vibe to it, I could feel it. I looked up into the trees surrounding our meadow and started to sing a short little song.

"Oh where has my sister gone?
Why has she disappeared?
She is no where to be seen
Has she run away?"

A little bluebird flew down from a nearby maple and returned the tune.
"Hello there little bird." I happily sang. The bird gently landed on my horn and continued to sing the tune the my song. I guess my singing attracted the creature. I  shook the bird off my horn, but it just flew on my speckled shoulder. Suddenly, I heard footsteps coming from my left.
"Melia, is that you? Why are you up so early?" My mother called. She appeared behind the trees and walked towards me.
"I don't know mom. I just am." I replied kind of nervous. I was worried about what would happen when she noticed Lilly wasn't there.
"And where's Lilly?" She asked, confused.
"Well, I don't know. Something happened last night and she wasn't here in the morning."
"What!? Why didn't you watch over her?" Mother exclaimed, her voice getting higher.
"I tired, but the shadows were chasing me. And then I passed out."
"Melia, I'm not going to believe some silly story about shadows. Now tell me where your sister is."
"I told you I don't know!" I yelled. She was pushing my nerves.
"Melia, you have to know. You were here with her at night."
"I already told you the truth mother. I'm not going to repeat myself."
"Stop being difficult."
"I'm leaving." I spoke back.

If she didn't believe me, then she won't know what happened. For all I know she was murdered by those spirits or something. My mother can be so inconsiderate sometimes and I was tired of it. Then it dawned on me that I could run away and live on my own. I was perfectly old enough at age 6. I don't know why I stayed with them so long. Oh wait, I stayed because of Lilly. I couldn't just leave her. And then I thought I had to find her and know what really happened. It would be one of the hardest challenges of my life to turn out to be unsucessful, but then I wasn't thinking of how I would go about finding her. All I was thinking about was finding out the truth. I ran out of the meadow into the thick woods without turning back. I still don't regret running away.

Later, when I reached a fast paced river, I noticed the bluebird was still on my shoulder.
"Hey, what are you still doing there?" I asked the little bird, somehow expecting a response. The bird just sand the tune of my song again. "Well if you're going to just sit there on my shoulder, we should be friends. And you need a name. How about Azulli?" The bird happily twittered as if saying 'yes!' " Okay Azulli, time to take of on an adventure!" I got up and started towards the entrance of the woods with only the flower to help me with my search.
